The ceremony took place in front of the celebration tent, on the former William K. Vanderbilt II’s private golf course with the same breath-taking views overlooking Northport Bay.

You don’t need to go to Europe for a European-style wedding! Let Kira and Cory's summer wedding at the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport inspire you. Historic Long Island architecture, lush gardens, waterfront views were paired with a relaxed outdoor celebration. Set on the former Eagle's Nest estate of William K. Vanderbilt II, the Vanderbilt Museum offered a beautiful mix of elegant architecture and open-air spaces for their wedding day. From their couple's session on the museum's grounds to an evening celebration in the venue's permanent celebration tent, the entire day felt perfectly suited to summer on Long Island.
My personal favorite features about the venue at the end of the blog post.

Wedding Portraits Around the Vanderbilt Museum

One of my favorite features about photographing weddings at the Vanderbilt Museum is the amount of variety available without needing to leave the property. We started from the main Spanish Revival interior court, through the lush gardens, taking advantage of the historic architecture and ending with the heart-stopping views overlooking Northport Bay.

Cocktail Hour in the Mansion's Courtyard.

The massive, cobblestone courtyard surrounded by the mansion's Spanish Revival architecture invited Kira and Cory's guests to feel like they are on a vacation in Europe, sipping cocktails, enjoying seafood and good conversations!

As the sun set, the celebration continued in Vanderbilt's Celebration Tent.

Personal favorite features about the venue:

• Multiple locations with fashion magazine worthy backdrops for couple's session and guest experience. • Around 6:30 PM (for a late July, early August wedding) the Courtyard is in complete shade. Creating a perfect location for your guests enjoying Cocktail Hour without being in direct sun light. • Around 5:00 PM (for a late July, early August wedding) the outdoor greenery ceremony space in front of the Celebration Tent is in complete shade. Creating the perfect location for your guests to enjoy your ceremony in the cooling natural forest shade. • It's only a one hour drive from NYC. If you have a good mix of Long Island guests as well as guest from the city, this is the perfect choice.

Summer Wedding at Vanderbilt Museum | Long Island, NY

The winter season carries its own unique charm in New York City, especially in its iconic location, DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). It's where Austin, all the way from sunny Florida, decided to propose to Morgan on a frosty winter morning.

This marks the end of our winter season stories in 2025. Looking forward to a fun, hard-working warm season. Bring in the heat! 🔥

A Winter Sunrise Proposal in DUMBO: Austin and Morgan's Love Story

Every now and then, I get to witness and capture a love story that seems to have leapt straight out of Vogue. Daisy and Pav's wedding at the Current venue part of The Pier Sixty Collection in Manhattan was one such magical event, a celebration that was deliciously Met Gala worthy.

We started with a photo session in the Meat District, just a few blocks away from Current, a premier event venue located on the waterfront of Manhattan. The part were the sun sets!

The outfits, oh the outfits! They were nothing short of spectacular. It was a visual treat, a feast for the eyes and a dream for a photographer.

Thank you, Daisy and Pav, for letting me be a part of your special day, for allowing me to witness your love, and for giving me the opportunity to capture your moments of joy. Your wedding was a fairy tale that I was lucky enough to document. ❤️

I'll keep it simple. As an experienced photographer, who has captured countless photo sessions, I've come across some of the most breathtaking locations that this city has to offer. Here are my top favorites, considering not only the main photo where you will propose but all the area surrounding, where you might have a mini-photo session afterwards. Every location idea will have a dropped pin on Google maps attached to it so you know exactly where to go!

Central Park, Manhattan

Central Park - Location idea 1

Google maps location for idea 1 in Central Park

This is a very popular location in Central Park. Crowds are always present. Crowds can be kept out of the frame by photographing vertically. Proposing in the rain like Jordan did here will also be helpful since the rain will keep the crowds away!

Another idea for having an intimate scene in this very popular spot is to propose at sunrise like Marcin did in the photo example below.

Google maps location for idea 2 in Central Park

This location overlooking the popular The Eldorado building works best in late autumn, winter and early spring, when the trees surrounding the spot do not have leaves yet, so there will be plenty of light for you to be visible. My advice is to consult with your photographer before choosing this location.

Central Park - Location idea 3

This location gives everything that Central Park has to offer in terms of background elements: buildings, trees and the pond.

Out of all the ideas so far, this location is the most intimate one. The surrounding area is small so there can't be a lot of people around. That also means that if there are people around they will be very close to you. Usually if you wait a few minutes, they would enjoy the view briefly, snap a few selfies and leave. Then you can freely propose to your significant person!

DUMBO, Brooklyn

All DUMBO locations are pretty popular and crowded. The photographer can keep other people out of the frame by photographing vertically. You can also propose at sunrise in order to be less crowded. Clouds also keep the area clear, but just a little.

That's it for now! These are just a few examples, I believe in secret proposals if you combine the popular real estate saying: "Location, location, location!" with "Meaning, meaning, meaning!" you hit the jackpot in choosing where to propose to your significant other.

Secret Proposal in DUMBO - An Italian Love Story in New York City

It's often said that 'love keeps us warm,' but during Onyinye and Temidayo's New York City Snowstorm Elopement, we discovered that love also makes us incredibly resilient – and it doesn't hurt to have a sense of adventure, too!

Skyscrapers disappearing into the snow. This was the backdrop to their New York City winter Elopement fay. When most people imagine their dream wedding, they likely envision a sunny day filled with blooming flowers and warm breezes. But they decided to do things a bit differently. They chose winter, they chose snow, and I felt blessed to document it!

Their day is a good way to remember... sometimes it's the unconventional path that leads to the most beautiful results.

We cannot recommend Moments by Ioana Stavar enough! She is SO good at her craft, and makes you feel so comfortable in front of the camera. My brother texted us after and said "your photographer was SO locked in, holy ...." Her photos are beautiful, she is kind and captures all the important moments without making it feel like a chore to take photos. You can tell she loves what she does and we are so happy with our photos from her! BOOK BOOK BOOK!

Nicole & Ryan (Testimonial on The Knot)

"We hired Ioana for our 150-person wedding at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and we would highly recommend her! From the very beginning, Ioana was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly generous with her time and expertise. It was clear that she truly cared about us as clients and wanted to understand what mattered most to us. When we first met and asked to see more of her portfolio, we were blown away by how consistently beautiful each of her albums was. And sure enough, when we received our own wedding gallery, we felt the same way. She captured us, the venue, the small details, and our guests so perfectly."
