Secret proposal - a short photography guide

Clothes

Keep in mind the background of the main photograph, the one where you kneel. If the background is black, it's advisable not to wear black so you don't blend into the background. Different shades of the same color works. Trough editing I can make sure you pop out from the background.

Wear a matching outfit with your future fiancée/fiancé's outfit. If your partner's outfit is casual, wear a similar type of outfit.

Try to match colors between each other's outfits. Some examples for inspiration below:

Location

Combine the popular real estate saying: "Location, location, location!" with "Meaning meaning meaning!" and you hit the jackpot in choosing where to propose to your partner.

If you have multiple locations in mind, choose the less crowded one (unless crowds are part of your plan) and consult with your photographer regarding lighting conditions and the best time of the day for photographs.

Planning

If it's possible, have a meet up with your photographer at the location. This way you can make sure you both know the exact location. You can also create a game plan. If it's a popular, crowded area, you can spontaneously propose and someone standing around with a camera will not be a giveaway. If it's not crowded, you can have the photographer ask you to offer a free photography session for example, for business promotional purposes.

Pro tip: As you approach the location, use a live location sharing app like Google Maps, so the photographer can see you approaching and keep the area clear if needed.
